Yandex Ads consulting: Yandex Direct ads in search, with measured conversions.
What is Yandex Direct?
Yandex Direct is Yandex’s advertising platform; ads are shown in Yandex Search results, in Yandex Maps and on sites in the Yandex Advertising Network (YAN). Yandex markets these ad products under the name Yandex Ads (Yandex Advertising). In search, the CPC bid, the quality coefficient and the forecast click-through rate together decide which ad appears in which section. That’s why results on Yandex depend as much on the accuracy of your Yandex Metrica conversion goals as on your keywords.
We build your Yandex ads account from search demand in Türkiye: we set keywords, negative keywords and autotargeting for Turkish queries, and tie the strategy to Yandex Metrica goals. What we measure isn’t clicks; it’s conversions such as leads and sales, and what they cost.

Results on Yandex ads are won in three layers.
01
Search demand and targeting
Keywords, negative keywords and autotargeting categories together decide which queries an ad appears for.
Keywords
We split groups into product and service themes, taking word-to-word and semantic matching into account.
Negative keywords
We build negative lists at the campaign, group and keyword levels, with Turkish suffixes and the ! operator in mind.
Autotargeting
We turn the targeted, narrow, broad, alternative and related query categories on and off one by one, and separate brand queries.
Search query report
We regularly read the real queries that trigger the ad, moving converting ones to keywords and irrelevant ones to the negative list.
02
Strategy and conversion signal
An automatic strategy learns only the goal it’s given; if the Yandex Metrica goal is missing or wrong, bids head the wrong way too.
Yandex Metrica goals
We set up goals such as form submissions, phone clicks and messaging apps, and link the tag to the campaign.
Conversion value
We enter what each goal earns your business as its value, and score intermediate goals relative to the main goal.
Choosing a strategy
We run a click-focused strategy until data builds up, then a conversion-focused one, on a weekly budget.
Offline conversions
We upload sales closed by phone or in store back into Yandex Metrica by file or API.
03
Ads, campaign structure and quality
Unless the ad that gets the click and the page that receives it answer the same question, the quality coefficient and click-through rate stay low.
Unified performance campaign
We set up the Search, Maps and Advertising Network placements deliberately, in one campaign or in separate ones.
Ad types
We prepare many titles, texts and images for combinatorial ads, and a feed or site source for product ads.
Extensions
With sitelinks, callouts and contact details, we make sure the ad can enter the expanded formats.
Landing page match
We make sure the wording of the query and the offer in the ad are answered on the first screen of the Turkish landing page.
How does a Yandex search turn into your ad?
In Yandex Search, eligible ads for each query are ranked by CPC bid, quality coefficient and forecast click-through rate. The winning ad is shown, the click lands on the landing page, and the Yandex Metrica goal returns to Yandex Direct as a conversion.
35%The largest share an automatic pay-per-click strategy can spend in a single day: 35% of the weekly budget.6

Click to flip through the screens
The dashboard pulls Search Console and Analytics data at the same time. We update the filters to match the project’s goals and build new screens for each type of conversion step.
We build screens with filters Google’s own interface doesn’t offer. We track your queries separately in the top 3, 4–10, 10–20 and 20+ position groups.
We group keywords into clusters and look at the traffic a project gets from each cluster as a whole. We can compare an online store’s bag and shoe clusters on one screen, by search intent, against the previous period; that is a more useful way to measure success.
To report organic growth honestly, we split traffic into branded and non-branded searches. We analyze non-branded traffic separately; that is where the effect of SEO work shows most clearly.
All these filters show the losses too: not every one of the 25 screens shows green. The same screens reveal the swings caused by algorithm updates, and our recovery work starts there.
We track every keyword one by one: impressions, clicks, CTR and position on the same row. Where a keyword moves up but clicks don’t follow, we start work on the title and description.
We keep the city the traffic comes from on a separate screen. For brands with physical stores, the city breakdown decides where the budget and content go.
We compare with the same period last year: is it seasonality or real growth? A screen that looks good against the previous 90 days may be standing still against last year.
We wrote this guide for marketing and sales teams who want to win customers from Yandex search in Türkiye, or who already run a Yandex ads account but can’t clearly see which query, which bid and which conversion drives the result. Every mechanism we describe is based on the English documentation of the Yandex Direct and Yandex Metrica help centers; the sources are listed by number at the end of the page. We verified product names, limits and settings against the source as of October 2026, and because Yandex updates its interface often, we check again on every setup. Our own field observations are marked separately under the heading “Expert note”.
Our Yandex Ads consulting and Yandex Direct management service runs in three layers: the targeting that decides which Turkish queries an ad appears for, the conversion signal the strategy learns from, and the ad and landing page that receive the click. The ten sections below explain how these layers work and what we check during setup, in that order.
What is Yandex Ads, and how is it different from Yandex Direct?
Yandex Direct is Yandex’s advertising platform; Yandex Ads is the name Yandex uses to market these ad products, so what people in Türkiye search for as “yandex reklam”, “yandex direct” and “yandex ads” is the same ad system. The unified performance campaign, the main campaign type recommended today, works as a single campaign that serves impressions in Yandex Search, Yandex Maps and the Yandex Advertising Network (YAN); ads are shown on desktop, tablet and mobile.1 Yandex writes that ads can also appear in Alice AI chats alongside search results, so Yandex’s AI assistant is now an ad surface too.2

Which businesses is advertising on Yandex in Türkiye right for?
Yandex advertising suits businesses whose audience uses Yandex search or Yandex services such as Yandex Navi; the platform has the basic tools needed to work with queries in Türkiye. Keywords can be written with Turkish letters.3 Companies and individuals advertising from Türkiye can pay by card or bank transfer in several currencies, including Turkish lira.10 According to a survey Yandex commissioned from IPSOS in Türkiye, 44% of navigation app users use Yandex Navi; because this figure comes from Yandex’s own announcement, we read it not as a market share measurement but as a sign that Yandex services have real reach in Türkiye.12
When do we recommend Yandex?
We put Yandex next to Google, not in its place. If search demand sits in an area where competing on Google is expensive, if part of the audience uses Yandex services, or if the business wants to reach foreign visitors in Türkiye, we recommend testing Yandex with a small budget. We make the call with real query and conversion data from the first weeks. We cover the Google side of the setup on our Google Ads consulting page.
How do you set up a Yandex Direct unified performance campaign?
A unified performance campaign is set up on three levels: at the campaign level, placements, strategy, schedule and advanced settings; at the group level, geotargeting, autotargeting, keywords, interests and audience segments; at the ad level, the ad type, texts, images, videos, sitelinks and contact details.1 Different ad types can sit together in the same campaign:1
Combinatorial ad: Yandex Direct itself generates many ads from several titles, texts, images and videos; they can appear in Search, the Advertising Network, the product gallery and Maps.
Product ad: ads are generated automatically from the site or a product feed for each product, service or catalog page.
Image ad: pitches the offer in a single image and is shown only in ad networks.
Neuro ad (beta): an ad generated with AI from the site’s content.
Yandex recommends adding as many variations as possible so the ad can be served across all placements. The budget can’t be split at the group level; if different placements need different budgets, separate campaigns are created.1 In most accounts we launch search and the Advertising Network in separate campaigns, so we can read the cost per conversion of the two placements separately and shift budget between them deliberately.
How do keywords, negative keywords and autotargeting work?
In Yandex search, an ad is shown for queries that contain every word of the keyword (word-to-word matching) and for queries that semantically refine the keyword, meaning queries with typos, synonyms or more specific wording (semantic matching).3 A keyword can contain at most 7 words, a group can hold at most 200 keywords, and keyword changes take effect within 3 hours.3 Negative keywords work together at the keyword, group and campaign levels; they don’t replace each other. The ! operator is used to exclude a specific word form.4
Autotargeting doesn’t rely on keywords: it reads the ad’s title, text and landing page, decides for itself whether the ad matches the query, and runs with equal priority to keywords.5 Queries fall into five categories:5
Category
Example (for a business renting out villas)
What we do in setup
Targeted queries
A query that matches the ad exactly: “antalya villa rental”
Keep it on
Narrow queries
A query more specific than the ad: “secluded villa rental with a private pool”
Keep it on if the landing page answers it
Broad queries
A query that names no product: “house to rent for a holiday”
Turn it on once conversion data builds up
Alternative queries
A product that could replace yours: “apart hotel antalya”
Track it separately and decide by cost
Related queries
A connected product: “antalya airport transfer”
Start it off in most accounts
These categories are combined with a brand setting: queries that mention your brand, competing brands or no brand at all can be turned on and off separately.5 Yandex notes that autotargeting works better with conversion strategies and on a site with Yandex Metrica goals set up.5
How are an ad’s position and format decided?
In Yandex search, ads are selected separately for each section and ranked by CPC, quality coefficient and the forecast click-through rate per impression; the ad with the best combination wins the placement.2 The quality coefficient reflects how well the offer matches the user’s interest: Yandex Direct compares the ad and its landing page with the query the user typed and with what users do on the site.2 In Yandex search and on YAN search sites, the average CPC is set by VCG auction rules, so the amount paid is usually lower than the maximum bid entered.2
Yandex also chooses the layout of the results page separately for each query. The more extensions an ad has, the more layouts it can enter; for example, appearing in the expanded format requires sitelinks with descriptions.2 In the regular format, callouts are shown only for the ad in the top position, and an ad with no extensions appears as a “mini ad”.2 That’s why we add sitelinks with descriptions, callouts and contact details to every ad group from the start.
On Yandex, the bid alone doesn’t win the top spot; the bid, quality and the click forecast win it together.
How do strategies and weekly budgets work?
In Yandex Direct, a strategy is the set of settings that decides what the campaign maximizes (clicks, conversions or profit) and the budget and average cost limits it works within; Yandex recommends automatic strategies, because they adjust bids far more often than could be done by hand.6 Unified performance campaigns can use the maximum conversions, maximum clicks, maximum clicks with manual bids and maximize profit strategies; several campaigns can be combined into a portfolio strategy.1
Budgets work weekly, and strategies have default overspending protection: in pay-per-click strategies, the system can’t spend more than 35% of the weekly budget in a day; in any strategy, a bid doesn’t exceed 10% of the weekly budget unless an increase adjustment is set.6 In most cases, it takes the strategy a few weeks to settle its forecasts; frequent relaunches and temporary manual management disrupt the forecast.6
What we don’t change during the learning weeks
Changing the goal, budget and targeting every day while the strategy is learning sends the system back to the start each time. We settle the settings before launch, fix only clear errors in the first weeks (an irrelevant query, a broken page, a wrong goal), and judge the strategy on at least a few weeks of data. If the campaign is heading into a seasonal sale, we turn on Yandex’s seasonal conversion rate growth setting in advance.6
How do Yandex Metrica goals become a conversion signal?
For Yandex Direct to adjust bids to what happens on the site, goals are set up in Yandex Metrica and selected as conversions in the strategy settings; a strategy can have up to 30 conversions.7 Each conversion is given the value it brings your business; the higher the value, the more important that goal is in the campaign, and ecommerce goals can use a dynamic value that changes with the sale.7 Yandex Metrica goal types include form submission, a click on a phone number, opening a messaging app, viewing specific pages, and conversions passed via JavaScript, the API or a file upload.8
The tag also has to be selected in the Yandex Direct campaign. If it isn’t, ad traffic is recorded under the “External campaigns” source in Yandex Metrica reports; Yandex Direct automatically adds the yclid parameter, which links the click to the session, to every ad link.9 If an agency manages the campaign, Yandex Metrica goals can be shared for campaign optimization only, without giving access to the tag.8
Why do Yandex Direct and Yandex Metrica count differently?
The two tools’ numbers don’t match exactly because they count different things: Yandex Direct statistics show valid clicks that weren’t filtered out by the anti-fraud system, while Yandex Metrica shows sessions.9 If a user leaves before the page loads, an ad blocker stops the tag, or the site has a cyclical redirect, the session never reaches Yandex Metrica; according to Yandex, the gap can reach 25%, especially for clicks from mobile devices.9 Yandex Metrica calculates Yandex Direct costs the same way Yandex Direct does by default, excluding VAT.9
Sales closed by phone or in store
If a lead starts on the site but the sale closes by phone, in the office or in store, the strategy only sees the form submission. We can bring these sales back into Yandex Metrica as conversions via the API or a file upload;8 that way the strategy learns from buyers, not from form fillers. We plan the setup around your CRM’s export format.
How do moderation, payment and account ownership work?
All ads in Yandex Direct go through moderation before they run; for content such as texts, keywords and links, moderation usually takes a few hours, and the more ads a campaign has, the longer it takes.11 Some products and services aren’t accepted at all, and some require extra documents; if an advertiser’s actions put Yandex, users or partners at risk, the account can be blocked.11 We check before setup whether your sector falls into a restricted category.
For advertisers in Türkiye, Yandex’s “other countries” payment options apply: payment can be made by card or bank transfer in euros, pounds sterling, US dollars, Swiss francs, Turkish lira, yuan or dirhams. On the first payment, individuals are asked for a passport, residence permit or tax residency certificate; companies are asked for a document confirming their registration, and companies in Türkiye for their tax certificate (vergi levhası). Document verification can take a few business days.10 The account is opened in your name and payments go directly to Yandex; the markention team accesses the account as an authorized user.
How does our Yandex Ads service work in the first 30 days?
The work of the first 30 days isn’t growing the budget; it’s verifying measurement, seeing the real queries and strengthening the signal the strategy will learn from. We go in this order:
Week 1 · Measurement and account: the Yandex Metrica tag and goals are set up and yclid pass-through is tested; the account is opened in your name, or the existing account is audited.
Week 2 · Structure and launch: keyword groups, negative lists, autotargeting categories and ads are set up; after moderation, campaigns go live on a weekly budget.
Week 3 · Query review: the search query report and autotargeting categories are read; irrelevant queries move to the negative list and converting ones become keywords.
Week 4 · First evaluation: cost per conversion is compared with targets; whether the strategy moves to a conversion focus, and next month’s budget, are decided together.
What should you look for in a Yandex Direct agency?
In Türkiye, the partner who runs Yandex ads usually runs Google Ads too; the real question is whether they treat Yandex’s Turkish query behavior and Yandex Metrica measurement as a channel of its own. Three common models:
Model
Strength
What to watch
Freelance Yandex Direct specialist
Platform focus, one point of contact
Yandex Metrica goals and landing page fixes may be out of scope
Yandex ads agency
Setup, measurement and reporting in one place
Yandex built as a copy of the Google campaign
In-house team
Knows the product and customer questions well
Keeping up with frequent changes to the Yandex interface
When you talk to a partner, it helps to get concrete answers to these questions: in whose name are the account and the Yandex Metrica tag opened, how are conversion goals verified, which autotargeting categories are on, how often is the search query report read, and how do offline sales feed back into the strategy?
Account ownership: the Yandex Direct and Yandex Metrica accounts are opened in your name and payment documents are filed by your company; the partner is added as an authorized user.
Discipline with Turkish queries: because Turkish is heavily inflected, irrelevant queries pile up fast; ask who grows the negative list and how often.
Measurement: ask for a setup where yclid survives on the landing page and goals are verified with a test conversion; a conversion strategy without measurement doesn’t know what it’s learning.
Budget kept apart from the fee: the ad budget is paid to Yandex directly and the service fee is invoiced separately; bundling the two hides the spend.
Guarantee language: on Yandex, position is set by bid, quality and click forecast together; a promise of “top spot on every search” doesn’t fit that system.
What drives Yandex ad costs and consulting pricing?
Advertising on Yandex costs two separate things: the ad budget paid to Yandex, and the fee of the partner who manages the account. Click costs form in the auction and vary by sector, region and competition; budgets run weekly. The service fee is set by the workload:
Factor
How it affects the fee

Yandex Ads: frequently asked questions.
What is Yandex Direct, and is it the same as Yandex Ads?
Yandex Direct is Yandex’s advertising platform; Yandex markets these ad products under the name Yandex Ads (Yandex Advertising). What people in Türkiye search for as “yandex reklam”, “yandex direct” and “yandex ads” is the same ad system. Ads are shown in Yandex Search results, Yandex Maps and on sites in the Yandex Advertising Network. Yandex notes that ads can also appear in Alice AI chats.
How do you advertise on Yandex, and who opens the account?
The Yandex Direct account is opened in your name; payments go directly to Yandex, and the account stays with you. On the first payment, Yandex asks individuals for a passport, residence permit or tax residency certificate, and companies in Türkiye for their tax certificate; verification can take a few business days. We then set up the Yandex Metrica tag and goals, build the campaigns, and take them live after moderation. The markention team accesses the account as an authorized user.
How is the fee for Yandex Ads consulting set?
The fee depends on the number of campaigns, the target regions, the state of the measurement setup, whether a product feed or offline conversions are needed, and the scope of monthly reporting. We work out the scope together in the first meeting, then send a written proposal. The ad budget is separate from our service fee and is paid directly to Yandex. Estimated ranges are in the pricing table on this page; the final fee is set in a written proposal.
Does Yandex advertising work in Türkiye, and should it replace Google?
We put Yandex next to Google, not in its place. If part of your audience uses Yandex search or services such as Yandex Navi, and competing on Google is expensive, we recommend testing it with a small budget. Keywords can be written with Turkish letters, and payment can be made in Turkish lira. We make the call with real query and conversion data from the first weeks; if we see the channel doesn’t fit your business, we say so plainly.
How are Yandex ad costs set, and how much do you pay per click?
A click on Yandex has no fixed price; for each query, ads are ranked by bid, quality coefficient and forecast click-through rate, and the average cost is set by VCG auction rules. That’s why the amount paid is usually lower than the maximum bid and varies by sector, region and competition. Automatic strategies run on a weekly budget, and the system doesn’t spend more than 35% of the weekly budget in a day. We see the cost specific to your business from the first weeks of data.
When will we see results?
Moderation usually takes a few hours, and the campaign starts getting impressions after approval. According to Yandex, it takes an automatic strategy a few weeks in most cases to settle its forecasts; we don’t change settings unnecessarily during that time. We do the first evaluation at the end of the fourth week with real query and conversion data. We don’t promise a specific increase in sales or leads.
Is setting up Yandex Metrica mandatory?
For conversion-focused strategies, yes. Yandex Direct uses Yandex Metrica goals to adjust bids to what happens on the site; a strategy can have up to 30 conversions. If the tag isn’t selected in the campaign, ad traffic can’t be tracked separately in reports. We usually install the tag through Google Tag Manager so it’s versioned and reversible, and verify goals with a test conversion.
Why do the numbers in Yandex Direct and Yandex Metrica differ?
The two tools count different things: Yandex Direct shows valid clicks that passed the anti-fraud system, while Yandex Metrica shows sessions. If a user leaves before the page loads or an ad blocker stops the tag, the session never reaches Yandex Metrica; according to Yandex, the gap can reach 25% for clicks from mobile devices. During setup, we also check whether a redirect on the landing page drops the yclid parameter.
Should autotargeting stay on?
Autotargeting reads the ad’s text and landing page, picks the ad that fits the query itself, and runs with equal priority to keywords. The targeted, narrow, broad, alternative and related query categories, along with the brand settings, can each be turned on and off separately. In most accounts we start with targeted and narrow queries, and turn on the broad and alternative categories as conversion data builds up. Yandex also notes that autotargeting works better with conversion strategies and Yandex Metrica goals.
Which sectors are restricted on Yandex?
Yandex doesn’t accept ads for some products and services at all, and requires extra documents for others; every ad goes through moderation before it runs. The rules are set out in Yandex’s advertising requirements and ad serving rules. Before setup, we check whether your sector falls into a restricted category and which documents are needed. Because an account can be blocked if an advertiser’s actions put users or partners at risk, we don’t launch an ad that breaks the rules.
Who runs the Yandex advertising work?
The markention team runs the work; we’re a marketing and business development operation added to your company as a module, and Yandex Ads is one of that operation’s modules. We handle the account and measurement audit, campaign setup, query review and the monthly report. We also apply any fixes needed on the landing page in line with your site’s release process. In the first meeting, we confirm who your point of contact will be.
Should we hire a Yandex ads agency or run campaigns ourselves?
If your team can set up Yandex Metrica goals and read the search query report regularly, you can run campaigns yourselves. Turkish queries need constant negative-list upkeep, and yclid and goal tests plus autotargeting categories take steady time; without that time, a Yandex Direct agency or specialist moves faster. Whichever route you choose, the account should be opened in your name.
How much budget should we set aside to advertise on Yandex?
We don’t name a fixed amount; the budget should let the strategy collect enough conversions to settle its forecasts within a few weeks. In most businesses we start Yandex next to Google with a small test budget and decide together, based on real query and conversion data from the first weeks, whether to grow it. Budgets run weekly and are paid directly to Yandex.
Who keeps the accounts and the data?
The Yandex Direct and Yandex Metrica accounts are opened in your name and stay with you; payments go directly to Yandex. We access the accounts as authorized users; Yandex Metrica goals can also be shared for campaign optimization only, without full access to the tag. When the work ends, our access is removed; the campaigns, data and reports stay with you.
