TikTok Ads consulting: TikTok advertising with attention in the first three seconds and measured sales.
What is TikTok Ads?
TikTok Ads is the advertising system that lets businesses show ads in the TikTok feed, in search results and in TikTok’s ad placements; campaigns are managed in TikTok Ads Manager. Ads are ranked by an auction that weighs the bid price together with how relevant the ad is to the person. Spark Ads let an ad run from a real post on a brand or creator account. That’s why results on TikTok depend less on targeting and more on the first seconds of the creative and on setting up the TikTok Pixel and the Events API correctly.
We build your TikTok ads account from vertical video and measurement: we prepare Spark Ads and creative variations, keep the campaign structure simple for the learning phase, and connect the TikTok Pixel and the Events API with deduplication. What we measure isn’t views; it’s sales and leads.

Results on TikTok ads are won in three layers.
01
Creative and format
On TikTok, an ad is watched like a post; a video that doesn’t hold people in the first seconds won’t deliver, whatever the bid.
Vertical video
We prepare videos in 9:16 vertical format, within the safe zone, to be watched with the sound on.
Spark Ads
We run posts from your brand account or from authorized creators as ads, so the engagement stays on the post.
Creative variations
We multiply the same offer with different openings, texts and buttons, and replace tired creative in time.
Landing page match
We make sure the product shown in the video also appears on the landing page, and that the page loads fast on phones.
02
Campaign structure and budget
When the campaign, ad group and ad levels are kept simple, the system gets through the learning phase with less fragmented data.
Objective and structure
We choose the sales, lead or traffic objective to fit your business, and don’t split ad groups unnecessarily.
Smart+ campaigns
In suitable accounts, we test Smart+ setups that hand targeting, bidding and creative decisions to AI.
Bidding strategy
We choose between the maximum results and target cost per result strategies based on how mature the data is.
Budget and learning
We raise budgets in amounts and at intervals that don’t break the learning phase.
03
Measurement and signal
The bidding system learns only the events reported to it; missing or double-counted events push bids the wrong way.
TikTok Pixel
We set up standard events such as product views, add to cart and purchase across every step of the purchase.
Events API
We also send the same events from the server, and deduplicate browser and server copies with the event ID.
Attribution window
We choose the click-through and view-through attribution windows to fit your sales cycle, and read them separately in reports.
Comparing with order records
Every month we compare the sales TikTok reports with store or CRM records.
How does a video turn into a sale?
TikTok chooses which ad to show in the feed through an auction that weighs the bid price together with the ad’s relevance to the person. The winning video appears in the For You feed, the click lands on the landing page, and the sale is reported back to TikTok through the Pixel and the Events API, deduplicated.
25 resultsAccording to TikTok, volatility typically starts to decline about 25 results or 7 days after a campaign enters the learning phase.8
30%The budget increase limit TikTok recommends for a campaign that has exited the learning phase; changes are made at most every two days.7

Click to flip through the screens
The dashboard pulls Search Console and Analytics data at the same time. We update the filters to match the project’s goals and build new screens for each type of conversion step.
We build screens with filters Google’s own interface doesn’t offer. We track your queries separately in the top 3, 4–10, 10–20 and 20+ position groups.
We group keywords into clusters and look at the traffic a project gets from each cluster as a whole. We can compare an online store’s bag and shoe clusters on one screen, by search intent, against the previous period; that is a more useful way to measure success.
To report organic growth honestly, we split traffic into branded and non-branded searches. We analyze non-branded traffic separately; that is where the effect of SEO work shows most clearly.
All these filters show the losses too: not every one of the 25 screens shows green. The same screens reveal the swings caused by algorithm updates, and our recovery work starts there.
We track every keyword one by one: impressions, clicks, CTR and position on the same row. Where a keyword moves up but clicks don’t follow, we start work on the title and description.
We keep the city the traffic comes from on a separate screen. For brands with physical stores, the city breakdown decides where the budget and content go.
We compare with the same period last year: is it seasonality or real growth? A screen that looks good against the previous 90 days may be standing still against last year.
We wrote this guide for marketing, ecommerce and brand teams who want to advertise on TikTok, or who already run campaigns in TikTok Ads Manager but can’t turn views into sales. Every mechanism we describe is based on the English documentation of the TikTok Business Help Center; the sources are listed by number at the end of the page. We verified product names, limits and settings against the source as of October 2026, and because TikTok updates its ad products often, we check again on every setup. Our own field observations are marked separately under the heading “Expert note”.
Our TikTok Ads consulting and ad management service runs in three layers: creative that holds people in the first seconds, a campaign structure that doesn’t fragment the learning phase, and the measurement signal the bidding system learns from. The ten sections below explain how these layers work and what we check during setup, in that order.
What is TikTok Ads, and how does advertising on TikTok work?
TikTok Ads is the advertising system that lets businesses show ads on TikTok, and advertising on TikTok is set up in TikTok Ads Manager on three levels: the objective and budget at the campaign level; placements, audience, budget, schedule, optimization goal and bid at the ad group level; and the format, video or image, text and call-to-action button at the ad level.1 Each campaign can contain several ad groups, and each ad group several ads; this structure makes it possible to compare how ads deliver and adjust based on performance.1

The same logic applies to Instagram and Facebook ads; we cover measurement and campaign structure on the Meta side separately on our Meta Ads consulting page.
How does the TikTok ad auction work?
The TikTok auction ranks ads by bid price and by how relevant an ad might be to the person; a strong bid can increase reach and conversion volume, but it doesn’t push an irrelevant ad to the front on its own.5 The bidding method decides what you’re billed for:5
Bidding method

On the strategy side there are two options: target cost per result tries to keep the average cost around the amount you specify, while maximum results aims for as many results as possible within the budget, with some fluctuation in cost per result expected.6 TikTok also writes that in conversion campaigns, performance can fluctuate before the learning phase ends, which can raise the cost per thousand impressions.6
Why does creative come before targeting in TikTok ads?
On TikTok, an ad is watched the same way as the other videos in the feed; if people don’t get what the video is about before they scroll, the impression won in the auction is wasted. That’s why we treat creative as the most important variable in the account. According to TikTok’s in-feed ad specifications, the recommended size is 9:16 vertical (at least 540×960 pixels); 16:9 horizontal and 1:1 square are also supported, videos can run up to 10 minutes, and files shouldn’t exceed 500 MB.4 TikTok publishes safe zone files so that the text, profile photo and button don’t cover the important part of the video.4
How we plan creative
Instead of one “perfect video” per product, we prepare several variations that tell the same offer with different openings: one that opens with a question, one that shows the product in hand, one that shows the result first. The variations compete in the same ad group; we see from the data which one holds people in the first seconds, and replace tired creative with new creative in time.
What are Spark Ads, and when should you use them?
Spark Ads is a native ad format that lets you run organic TikTok posts as ads; the views, comments, shares, likes and follows gained during the promotion are attributed to the organic post.3 Ads can run from your brand account’s own posts, or from posts by creators who give their authorization; the authorization period can be set to match the campaign.3 In auction campaigns, Spark Ads can be used with the reach, traffic, video views, community interaction, app promotion, conversions, lead generation and sales objectives, and the maximum length of a video that can be sparked is 10 minutes.3
Spark Ads from the brand account: to grow a post that performs well organically with paid reach, and keep the engagement on the account.
Spark Ads from a creator: to run, with the creator’s authorization, a post in which they explain the product in their own words.
Non-Spark ads: to set a display name and text specific to the ad, and to advertise without posting on the organic account.
With Spark Ads, the ad’s display name and text come from the chosen post and can’t be edited when the ad is created; a post banned on the organic account is rejected as an ad too.3 That’s why, when working with a creator, we agree the post text and the authorization period together before launch.
When should you use Smart+ campaigns?
Smart+ campaigns let you set up a single AI-powered campaign for performance objectives; TikTok automates targeting, optimization and creative decisions to try to show the right ad to the right person.2 The setup takes your key performance indicators, creative assets, target geography and language; Smart+ supports the sales, app promotion, lead and traffic objectives.2 Automated creative generation detects fatigued ad groups and refreshes creative combinations, tries to shift budget to the best creative and pause weak ones; creatives generated by Smart+ can be turned off if you prefer.2
Automation speeds up the decision; measurement decides what the decision is based on.
We turn on Smart+ as a test in accounts where measurement is set up correctly and enough conversions come in. If the Pixel and Events API are incomplete, automation scales the wrong signal quickly; so we fix measurement first, then compare Smart+ with a manually built campaign over the same period.
How do you manage TikTok ad budgets and the learning phase?
TikTok has two budget types, daily and lifetime, and the budget type can’t be switched on a campaign or ad group that’s live.7 TikTok also applies minimum budget thresholds: a daily budget must exceed 50 US dollars at the campaign level and 20 US dollars at the ad group level, and the campaign budget shouldn’t be lower than the ad group budget.7
The learning phase is the period in which the ad system finds the best people for the campaign’s objective, and performance can fluctuate during it; according to TikTok, volatility typically starts to decline after about 25 results or 7 days.8 During this period, pausing the campaign, making edits that restart the phase, and setting unreasonable budget or creative volumes keep the phase from ending.8 TikTok recommends raising the budget by no more than 40% at a time for a campaign still in the learning phase, by no more than 30% for one that has exited it, and not making changes more often than every two days.7
How do you set up the TikTok Pixel and the Events API?
The TikTok Pixel is a piece of code that shares website events with TikTok; it’s used to measure site traffic and campaign performance, optimize campaigns and find new customers.9 TikTok recommends setting up events that reflect every step of the purchase, from viewing a product page to adding to cart and buying.9 The Pixel collects information from the browser such as ad and event information, a timestamp, IP address, user agent and cookies; third-party cookies are on by default with the TikTok Pixel, while first-party cookies are optional.9
The Events API, on the other hand, is a server-to-server connection that sends events from the website, app and offline sources such as a store or CRM to TikTok. For web conversions, TikTok recommends setting up the Pixel and the Events API together, with event deduplication; that way conversions the Pixel misses because of browser and connection issues make it into reporting and optimization.10 Setting up the Pixel or the Events API is a prerequisite for the web conversions objective in TikTok Ads Manager.10 We cover server-side architecture separately on our server-side tracking page.
Don’t count the same sale twice
When the Pixel and the Events API send the same purchase by two routes and the two copies don’t match on the same event ID, the sale is counted twice and the bidding system learns conversions that never happened. During setup, we generate the event ID once on the site and test in Events Manager that the same value goes out on both routes.
How do attribution windows change the reports?
An attribution window is the time between someone’s interaction with an ad and the desired action, and on TikTok it can be chosen separately at the ad group level.11 Click-through attribution offers 1, 7, 14 and 28-day options; view-through attribution offers off, 1-day and 7-day options.11 View-through attribution also credits TikTok with people who watched the ad without clicking and bought later; that’s why the number of sales TikTok reports can be larger than the number from an analytics tool that works on last click. We choose the attribution setting to fit your sales cycle, show view-through sales separately in reports, and compare TikTok’s number with order records every month.
For products with a long sales cycle, such as an expensive product or a service that requires a quote, a person can watch the video today and buy weeks later. In that case a 1-day click window understates the real effect, while a 28-day window can also credit TikTok with the contribution of other channels. That’s why we choose the window once and keep it fixed, always compare with the same setting, and make decisions knowing the gap between TikTok’s number and order records.
How do ad review and account setup work?
On TikTok, advertisers are responsible for their ads and must comply with applicable laws and rules.12 The points TikTok highlights for review are: ad copy and creative in a language accepted in the target location, no depiction of actions that aren’t supported in the app (such as swiping up or a mouse cursor), high-quality media and clear audio, creative and display name consistent with the landing page, and no brands, music or images used without permission.12 Products featured in the ad must also be shown on the landing page.12
On the account side, the TikTok Ads Manager account, Business Center and Pixel are opened in your name; the markention team accesses them as authorized users in Business Center. We also keep a record, together with you, of the music and creator authorizations used in creative.
How does our TikTok Ads service work in the first 30 days?
The work of the first 30 days isn’t growing the budget; it’s verifying measurement, testing the first creative set, and taking campaigns through the learning phase. We go in this order:
Week 1 · Measurement and account: Business Center, the ad account and the Pixel are opened in your name or audited; Pixel events, the Events API and deduplication are tested.
Week 2 · Creative and launch: the first vertical video variations and Spark Ads authorizations are prepared; campaigns go live with a simple structure, above the minimum budget thresholds.
Week 3 · Learning: campaigns gather data without being paused; the creatives’ hold and click data in the first seconds is read.
Week 4 · First evaluation: sales are compared with order records; winning creatives are multiplied, and budget increases are planned around the learning phase.
What should you look for in a TikTok ads agency?
Because creative decides results on TikTok more than anything else, the first question to ask a TikTok ads agency or specialist is who produces the videos, and how often. The common models differ like this:
Model
Strength
What to watch
Freelance TikTok Ads specialist
Speed in campaign setup
Creative production and Events API setup often stay with you
Creator (influencer) agency
A creator network and a native video voice
Measurement and campaign management can take a back seat
Performance-focused ad agency
Creative, measurement and campaigns together
How many new videos arrive each month, and who makes them
Ask for concrete answers to these questions: who produces the creative and how often is it refreshed, are the Pixel and Events API deduplicated, which attribution window is used, how are the sales TikTok reports compared with order records, and in whose name are the account and Pixel opened?
Business Center ownership: Business Center, the ad account and the Pixel are opened in your name, and the agency is added as an authorized user. An account opened in the agency’s own Business Center can take your data with it when you part ways.
Creative refresh rhythm: a one-off set of videos tires quickly; get in writing how many variations arrive each month.
Creator authorizations: Spark Ads authorization periods and music and image rights should be on record; unauthorized use gets ads rejected.
Checking sales: sales in the TikTok dashboard can grow with view-through attribution; see whether the report puts them next to your order records.
Guarantee language: in the auction, cost comes from bid and relevance; a promise to “go viral” or of a fixed sales count isn’t a measurement plan.
What drives TikTok ad pricing and agency fees?
Advertising on TikTok costs two separate things: the ad budget paid to TikTok, and the fee of the partner who manages the account. The ad budget is spent in the auction by bid and relevance; TikTok’s minimum budget thresholds are covered in the budget section above. The factors behind the service fee:

TikTok Ads: frequently asked questions.
What is TikTok Ads, and how do you advertise on TikTok?
TikTok Ads is the advertising system that lets businesses show ads on TikTok, and campaigns are managed in TikTok Ads Manager. Setup happens on three levels: the objective and budget in the campaign; placements, audience, schedule and bid in the ad group; and the video, text and call to action in the ad. Ads are shown through an auction that ranks them by bid price and how relevant the ad is to the person. The account, Business Center and Pixel are opened in your name; the markention team handles setup and management.
How is the fee for TikTok Ads consulting set?
The fee depends on the number of campaigns and markets, monthly creative needs, the state of the measurement setup, whether creator work is involved, and the scope of reporting. We work out the scope together in the first meeting, then send a written proposal. The ad budget is separate from our service fee and is paid directly to TikTok. Estimated ranges are in the pricing table on this page; the final fee is set in a written proposal.
How is TikTok ad pricing set, and what’s the minimum budget?
There’s no fixed price for a click or an impression on TikTok; cost is set in the auction by bid price and the ad’s relevance. TikTok applies minimum budget thresholds: a daily budget must exceed 50 US dollars at the campaign level and 20 US dollars at the ad group level. To get through the learning phase, the budget needs to be high enough to produce sufficient results; we work out the budget your product needs together in the first meeting, based on your goals.
What are Spark Ads, and do we need to work with creators?
Spark Ads is the format that lets you run organic TikTok posts as ads; the views, likes, comments and follows gained during the ad are attributed to the organic post. Ads can run from your brand account’s posts or from posts by creators who give their authorization. Working with creators isn’t mandatory, but a creator post that explains the product in their own words is often watched more naturally than a brand video. We agree the authorization period and post text together before launch.
Do we need to shoot videos, and who prepares the creative?
Because creative decides results more than anything else on TikTok, you need regular vertical video; the recommended size is 9:16 vertical. We prepare the creative plan, scripts and variations, and also review the product videos and organic posts you already have. If a shoot is needed, we plan it once the product and scope are clear. Replacing tired creative with new creative is part of the monthly work.
When will we see results?
Ads start getting impressions after they pass review. According to TikTok, fluctuation in the learning phase typically starts to decline after about 25 results or 7 days; during that time we don’t pause the campaign or make unnecessary edits. We do the first evaluation at the end of the fourth week with sales and order data. We don’t promise a specific increase in sales.
Is setting up the TikTok Pixel and the Events API mandatory?
For sales or lead campaigns, yes: setting up the Pixel or the Events API is a prerequisite for the web conversions objective in TikTok Ads Manager. TikTok recommends setting up the Pixel and the Events API together with event deduplication, so conversions missed in the browser are measured too. We usually set this up through Google Tag Manager, and test that events go out by both routes with the same ID.
Why are the sales TikTok shows different from our store records?
TikTok counts according to the chosen attribution window: 1, 7, 14 or 28 days after a click, and 1 or 7 days after a view, can be selected. Because view-through attribution also credits TikTok with people who watched the ad without clicking and bought later, TikTok’s number can be larger than that of analytics tools working on last click. If the Pixel and the Events API aren’t deduplicated, sales can also be counted twice. That’s why we compare TikTok’s number with your order or CRM records every month.
Should we use Smart+ campaigns?
Smart+ lets you set up a single campaign that automates targeting, optimization and creative decisions with AI, and it supports the sales, app, lead and traffic objectives. It can be useful in accounts where measurement is set up correctly and enough conversions come in; if measurement is incomplete, automation scales the wrong signal quickly. We first turn on Smart+ as a test, comparing it with a manually built campaign over the same period.
Why do our ads get rejected?
TikTok highlights rules on language, calls to action, media quality, landing page consistency and authorized use. Showing actions that aren’t supported in the app, video without clear audio, a product that isn’t on the landing page, or brands, music and images used without permission are among the reasons for rejection. We check creative against these rules before launch, and read and fix the reason when an ad is rejected.
Who runs the TikTok advertising work?
The markention team runs the work; we’re a marketing and business development operation added to your company as a module, and TikTok Ads is one of that operation’s modules. We handle the measurement setup, the creative plan, campaign setup, learning phase management and the monthly report. We also apply any fixes needed on the landing page in line with your site’s release process. In the first meeting, we confirm who your point of contact will be.
What’s the difference between a TikTok ads agency and an influencer agency?
An influencer agency focuses on finding creators and managing collaborations; a TikTok ads agency runs the campaign, bidding, measurement and creative tests in Ads Manager. The two can meet: when a creator’s video becomes an ad through Spark Ads, both jobs land in the same campaign. We run the campaign and measurement side, and tie creator work to it along with authorization and usage periods.
What should you ask when choosing a TikTok ads agency?
Start with who produces the creative and how often, since that decides results on TikTok more than anything else. Then ask whether the Pixel and Events API are deduplicated, which attribution window is used, how sales are compared with order records, and in whose name Business Center is opened. Be wary of offers that guarantee fixed sales or going viral.
Who keeps the accounts, the Pixel and the creative?
The TikTok Ads Manager account, Business Center and Pixel are opened in your name and stay with you; the ad budget is paid directly to TikTok. We work as authorized users in Business Center. The creative we produce, and the record of creator authorizations, are shared with you too. When the work ends, our access is removed; the campaigns, data and creative stay with you.
